Risk and Safety Information
General
1. You will be issued with a official event number on receipt of your entry fee.
2. You participate at your own risk. You accept full responsibility for your safety and personal property during the event.
3. Please report any concerns to the closest marshal or official.
Start
4. On Sunday 21st March, runners, walkers and in-line skaters will start separately. Skaters and runners are to assemble on the north side of the square. The walkers are to assemble on the south side of the square (BNZ side of the Cathedral) and join the
tail of runners on the second starting gun. The clothing truck will be manned from 7.45 am onwards. Please do not wait until the last minute. It is stressed that there are only limited changing facilities in Cathedral Square so come along in your jogging gear.
5. Attach your official number to the front of your running singlets (you will need this to win a prize). You are to place everyday clothes in the plastic bag provided at the start and attach your smaller official jog number to it. The bag is then handed in to the clothing truck and picked
up at the entertainment area at QEII Park.
Late Entries
6. Late entries can be registered on the day until 8.45am in the Cathedral Square.Late entries for the Heart Foundation 6km can be registered on the day until 9.45am at Porritt Park.
Ambulances
7. St Johns Ambulance and Red Cross vehicles, including trained paramedics have direct access to the route and are there to assist with any medical incidents involving participants, supporters, or staff. Please report to the nearest marshal if a paramedic
is required.
Clothing
8. Wear suitable clothing for the conditions on the day. Place your everyday clothing in the plastic bag provided at the start and attach your smaller official jog number to it. The bag is then to be handed in at the clothing truck, (manned from 7.45am
onwards) and collected at the entertainment area at QE11 Park.
Children
9. Children under the age of 8 at the date of the event must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Certificate of Achievement
10. All who complete the event will be given a certificate of achievement.
Course / Course Safety
11. The course is 12 kilometers and includes the Heart Foundation 6km.
12. Stay on the course at all times. There will be marshals along the route, also vehicles (including Police, Sponsor, Red Cross and other vehicles) will be permitted on the course. Please take care and watch for the presence of vehicles along the route at all times during the event.
13. Only vehicles approved by The Star City to Surf authorised staff are permitted on the course.
Drink Stations
14. There are three drink stations positioned along the course itself. These stations are there to avoid dehydration amongst participants, and provide breaks along the way. Please use them.
Finish
15. Toilet facilities are available at the finish. Your clothing bag will be available at the QEII Park until 12.30pm. Please ensure you have your official number to reclaim your clothes. Unclaimed clothing will be taken to The Star, Tuam Street. The Star
accepts no responsibility for lost clothing. Refreshments, food and entertainment are available in the ground north of QEII Stadium. Adequate parking and a bus service area is available. Exit the Stadium through the northern exit. DO NOT EXIT THROUGH THE ENTRY
CHUTE.
Marshals
16. Marshals are located at intermittent intersections along the route. They are there to be of assistance to participants, supporters, staff, and the general public. Any incidents can be reported to marshals, who are able to liase with other marshals and
the safety team.
Medical Advice
17. Do not come along to the start feeling hungry. A suggested breakfast is fruit juice, cereal, toast bread, butter, jam and tea or coffee.
18. Do not jog if you are sick or have vomited, or had an abnormal temperature or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours.
Refreshments
19. Refreshments and toilets are available at the 3km, 7km, 10km markers and at the finish line.
Road Closure
20. On roads associated with the official City to Surf route, participants, supporters and staff are to treat the route with care and not assume that the route will be free of vehicles at any given period on the day of the event. Please watch for vehicles
along the route, including leading vehicles (Police cars and sponsors vehicles), and the chance of residents backing out of driveways.
QEII - Finish Line and Corporate Event Site
21. Please be aware that a number of sponsors vehicles will be situated at the Finish Line and within the Corporate Event Site at QEII. While it has been requested that these vehicles remain stationary during the course of the event and during the
entertainment afterwards, it is important to take care when near them.
