Transport & Parking

City 2 Surf Image

Here’s everything you need to know about on the day transport…

Pre Event Bus Service:

We are no longer offering parking or bus transport from McCormack’s Bay. We now have limited free parking off Ferrymead Park Drive and next to Mitre 10 MEGA Ferrymead (directions upon arrival). We will have buses running to each start line from Ferrymead Playing Fields starting at 7.15am.

Buses will be allocated to each start line, however, the 14km Bus will drop people off at the 6km on the way back, so families can travel together. Please note the Sport Canterbury 6km drop off location is on Opawa Road near Ford Street where it’s about an 800m walk to Hansen Park. Unfortunately, it’s just too congested to get buses any closer.

Post Event Bus Service:

Parked at either start line?

Buses back to the start lines will operate from the Ferrymead Playing Fields between 10am to 1pm. Please show the driver your e-ticket confirmation (printed out or on your smartphone) or on the day red wristband as you board the bus.

There will be limited bus sales on the day. We recommend you book in advance.

There is no bus service between the 14km at Centennial Park and the Sport Canterbury 6km start lines, the 14km bus will go back via the 6km start line.

Buses will have wheelchair and pram access- but please fold your prams down.

Marshals & volunteers will be assisting you on the day & can answer any questions.

Children 10 years old and under on March 24 ride free with a participating adult.

You only require a ‘Before the event’  or  ‘After the event’ bus ticket.

Parking?

We no longer offer parking or buses at McCormack’s Bay.

We recommend that you park your vehicle at our new free parking area off Ferrymead Park Drive (enter via Bridle Path Road). Marshals will be there to assist with parking from 7am. This is limited to 200 vehicles. We also have limited parking available next to Mitre 10 MEGA Ferrymead, however there will be no bus service to or from this parking area.

If you decide to park near either start line before the event begins then please be aware that parking is very limited. Please allow at least 45 minutes before the event begins to find a space on the residential side streets. Marshals will not be assisting with parking around the start lines.
